Surely this was well meant, and yes, these are great women around the age of 50. But its also women whose looks exactly match Moixs evaluation criteria.

Because they belong to those women who are rated as very attractive despite their age because they continue to serve the youth ideal. To emphasize them as attractive women beyond the age of 50 cements the ideal instead of overturning it. It is a mechanism that is similarly triggered by the image of MILF (Mother Id like to fuck), into which Halle Berry, for instance, would fall, and which sexualizes the once unsexually connotated mother after all - which could be seen as a kind of extension of the image of the mother. What I like much better is that a few women around 50 proudly sent private pictures on Twitter showing their bodies. But on the other hand: What for? Why bother to disprove the man about the attractiveness of the female body around 50? After all, its not about him or women in general, its about a promise that seems to be attached to being with a younger woman. About a life that lies before you - and one that has already been lived The MILF is the wet dream of a young man, because he dreams of the affirmation of a woman with experience - just as the young woman is the one of the older man, because she gives him the affirmation that he, his body and his sexuality still play a social role. So they both fulfil above all the function of self-affirmation. And probably the older mans desire for the younger woman also arises because she tells of a life that can still be lived, and not of a life that has already been lived to a large extent. The dream of having a little more of life by starting anew. I have to think here of the documentary Happy - My father, the Thai woman and I, which is currently to be seen in the ARD Mediathek - and which for various reasons would once again be worth its own text. It is about a father who fell in love with the Thai Tukta, who is just as old as his daughter - and his daughter, who tries to understand what fascinates him about this young woman and whether it is really about love. Or something completely different. In the film she asks her father what he would do differently if he had children with his new girlfriend. And he answers that he wouldnt work so much today. With a young woman its also about the chance to do things differently again, to possibly rewrite life once more and to run away from ones own transience before the time comes. On the other hand, he only has disappointing things to say about his attempts to initiate life with women of the same age: Either the ideas of these women were very far removed from who he was, or they had different expectations of the relationship.

The fascination of teenage girls

And this leads to another aspect, which I could already observe in my own circle of acquaintances and which Kim Willscher also mentions in a longer article about Moix in the Guardian. A young woman is also such an incredibly good ego booster because she usually has more admiration for older men than a woman of the same age with more life experience would. I also remember the look with which I used to look at a certain type of man in general or at older men in general. And how it began to change over the years became a bit more sober. Not because there are no great, fascinating older men, but because some things that looked beautiful from a distance are not so fascinating anymore. Neither is it. It easily happens, whether with people, things or dreams, that they lose their magic the closer you get to them. Distance, on the other hand, always creates longing and has the gift of putting a slight shine over everything, whether earned or not. In the end, you can, but dont have to worry about Moixs statement. Because there is neither the woman around 50, nor the body of a woman at this age, nor even a single idea of what is desirable and what is not. Fortunately. And it doesnt have to upset anyone either, because you can guess that the announcement not to be able to love women because of some external criteria can only be an expression of an enormous insecurity towards oneself and perhaps ones own masculinity. At any rate, Im looking forward to old age - and thats all the more so because it puts me out of the focus of such men.
